چکیده

On the verge of the information society of the next millenium we are looking for innovative learning scenarios to prepare students for their future professions including the challenge of lifelong learning. In this article we describe our software engineering class which is designed as an open, self-directed, constructionist learning scenario in the context of authentic problems. The concept of this class has been continuously evaluated in various ways: Interviews with participating students, former participants, their employers, and local software industry. Emphasis of the '97 evaluation has been laid on the utilization of internet services. As a result we design the '99 class substantiating the integration of synchronous services like application sharing and audioconferencing to further encourage tele-

Computationally-Rich Constructionism and At-Risk Learners

In 1999, Maine Governor Angus King Jr. asked Seymour Papert to develop a model of what learning might look like in the future. Papert’s forty years of work with children and computing, as well as the historic impact information technology is having on society, required that this vision for the future of learning would involve computers. The result of this collaboration was the Constructionist L...

Using Free/Libre Open Source Software Projects as E-learning Tools

Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) projects can be considered as learning environments in which heterogeneous communities get together to exchange knowledge through discussion and put it into practice through actual contributions to software development, revision and testing. This has encouraged tertiary educators to attempt the inclusion of participation in FLOSS projects as part of the r...

Self-learning Change-prone Class Prediction

Software change-prone class prediction can enhance software decision making activities during software maintenance (e.g., resource allocating). Many change-prone class prediction approaches have been proposed and most are effective in interversion prediction within a project. These approaches usually build a supervised prediction model by learning from historical labeled dataset. However, a maj...
